ABOUT MYSELF

I was born in Bteghrine, a village in the mountain of Lebanon , and
chose to live in Montreal because it's one of the most important cities in
North America and it has some of the most important Universities in Canada.

EDUCATION
As a brief description of my studies, I have completed Baccalaureate of secondary
studies in philosophy in the official school of Lebanon. Later on, I went to
Pigier College for Commercial Studies in Beirut to have obtained a Technician
Certificate in Computer Sciences. At the same time, I was studying music
in The National Conservatory of Music of Lebanon for a period of seven years.
And I am a member in the Syndicate of professional Musicians of Lebanon.
In Canada I obtained a Bachelor Degree in Computer Sciences and a Minor in Music
from Concordia University.
This was a summary of what I have done throughout the years and what I still
am doing in both computers and music fields.

MUSIC

I was involved in folkloric troupes, which performed throughout the country.
Also, I was privileged to participate with the Conservatory group consisting
of seventy people, which was invited by radio Stuttgart, in Germany, to represent
our country among thirty others. Adding to that, I took part in many tours organized
by the folkloric troupe of The Ministry of Tourism of Lebanon. We have visited
all The Gulf countries, some African and American countries. In one of these
tours, I was leader of the troupe in our journey in France; we have participated
at "The International Exposition of Poitiers" 1997.
Many performances were given with a large number of famous singers and artists
around more than 30 countries.

In 2001 I performed in the 22nd edition of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal.

This Festival is a major popular cultural event and actually the most important of
its kind in the world, with thousands of musicians of all origins who are showcased
on 25 stages, from noon to midnight, for a total of 500 performances.

I also performed in a show on Télé Québec that aired on January 23, 2001
and in the Middle Eastern exposition at the Musée d'art National of Quebec City.
And many others...

Kanoun     Personally, I have studied the method of playing on this instrument
for approximately five years and have been playing the Kanoun for ten years now.
